Humidity Afro

9 Jul

This morning I left home. It’s official: my journey has begun. Tears were shed, advice was given, and nerves were setting in. I’m trying to focus on the fun ahead of me in California instead of freaking out about this huge event ahead of me.

There is really just soo many different emotions brewing inside of me right now. I’m happy, sad, excited, nervous, petrified. I know I’m going to experience so much over there and I want to take everything in. I’m trying not to have any set expectation and just let everything happen instead. Thankfully I get a little vacay in California to mellow and mentally prepare!

Before I left for the airport I made an egg white scramble with tomatoes and jalapeños with sliced avocado on the side.

These jalapeños were sent to us from a family friend that pickles it themselves using a secret family recipe.

I made  sandwich to take with me on the airplane too. The key to travel sandwiches is to toast the bread. That way it won’t become soggy from whatever spread or veggies you put on it.

I also brought my sigg with me to fill up at the airport. I’ve heard the key to preventing jetlag is hydration, hydration, hydration. I already drink like a fish so this is not a big stretch for me. I’m also going to bring another collapsible reusable bottle on my flight to Australia.

Apparently its been cold for California weather standards. But I will welcome anything coming from Baltimore’s heat wave. I’m just excited to not have a humidity afro anymore.

I’m getting a full tour of SoCal over the next three days. First stop: San Diego

We got once once we arrived in San Clemente

We both had delicious homemade veggie burgers on the San Clemente Strip

How you know your in California:

Natasha’s house is absolutely breathtaking

The sun finally came out!

We’re heading to Big Bear Lake tonight and will be there until Saturday. Big Bear is absolutely gorgeous and I’m excited to explore it in the daylight. It’s so cool to be in the middle of such a beautiful setting of mountains, water, and nature right in California.

Noticed a difference in my post appearance? That’s because I just started using Windows Live Writer and can actually type a post as it would appear on the blog.  I love my layout and theme, but the writing was a little too light more my taste. Problem solved! Now I just have to figure out how to permanently set it to black instead of grey. Ashley recommended this program to me before I started blogging and now I can see why she sings its praises!

The only problem I’m having is inserting pictures on live writer. I’m using a program called Parallels to run Windows on my Mac and I don’t think I’ve discovered the work around to insert photos. Any suggestions?
