Aloe Gloe Review and GIVEAWAY

21 Feb

There is a whole slew of giveaway this week including the raw foods giveaway that ends tomorrow, so enter!

I’ve just recently gotten into aloe juice after my roommate introduced me to it. It is great for repairing muscle tissue- so a perfect post-workout drink.

It’s also great for skin health, immunity, and digestion. Plus there are a TON of amino acids in every bottle.

I couldn’t wait to try the two flavors Aloe Gloe sent me!

I received the White Grape and the plain

Aloe Gloe also comes in a variety of flavors: Lemonade, Tangerine, Coconut, White Grape, Plain, Plain with Pulp

I really liked the ingredient list before I even tried it. Sweetened with stevia extract and organic cane sugar, it is organic and each bottle contains 35 calories.

Plus all of the ingredients are locally sourced!

White Grape – really refreshing. I love how its not sickening sweet like some other aloe juices I’ve tried. It tastes really natural and simple. It’s great over ice too. I have to say I definitely didn’t feel quite as sore during the next days workout after this bevvie.

Plain – I wasn’t a huge fan of this. For some reason I could taste the texture. But it may be that I’m more accustomed to flavored things. This is a great option for those naturalistas out there that don’t want any additives.

I sampled the drink in my spin class and it seemed that many people had never heard of aloe juice before. That isn’t very surprising though. They were all big fans of the White Grape. And what a better time to try it after a grueling spin class!

You can find Aloe Gloe at Costco, Whole Foods, and Fresh Market. Also you’ll soon be able to order it on Amazon.com.

But if your just to impatient and want to try it now you can enter todays giveaway!

I will be giving two bottles of each flavor to the lucky winner.

To enter: Leave a comment telling me why you want to try Aloe Gloe or suggesting a recipe to use it in.

I will draw the winner on Mondays post (2/27)

Vegan Van

20 Feb

This weekend was fit for a foodie. This is where foodies go to play. I felt so in my element.

I went to this underground vegan farmers market yesterday and it was beyond words amazing. This is what Colorado is all about. Small food companies being though up by an individual and then watching their dreams come true as the community gets behind them.

I have about a hundred photos to sort through, hopefully which I will get to tomorrow.

Today is all about, well…what everybody is talking about.

I was first introduced to the magic of food trucks in Austin Texas. Which one could arguably call the food truck capital of the world.

There’s something just so appealing about them. It always feels like you stumbled upon gold, plus there’s that added bit that it’s on wheels- so you better grab your food before it jets off to the next stop!

I had heard a bit about this Vegan Van

Evidently I was not the only one. There was a constant swarm of people around this adorable little van the whole day.

Just awesome.

And the menu for the day – please note the name of the featured meal “Ludacris” faux chicken and waffles.

The Vegan Van also has a sense of humor :) Everyone loves a vegan with a funny bone.

I don’t think I’ve ever had corned beef in my life. But I had just sampled some of my new obsession Denver Seitan Company, and knew they’d never let me down.

*hint hint – those guys are gonna be huge

Also loved the added touch with a side of popcorn. Clearly they know how to win my heart.

This may look like half a sandwhich but trust me, this baby was enormous. I ate it in two sittings.

I had to jet to my Whole Foods demo but I got to snapping photos in my car. I had a few curious bystanders who said whatever I was taking pictures of it must be interesting.

Oh, indeed curious bystander, indeed it was.

I had one hand on the wheel and one making sure my delicious treat stayed in tact. I was treating this thing like it was my child.

I’m going to be a great mother if I go to these lengths solely for a vegan sandwich.

Corned “Befe” with Curry Kraut and Horseradish Beet Cream on Rye

Everything about this was utter perfection. And the seitan was just incredible. I can’t Believe Amie has only had the Vegan Van since November.

This automobile may rival some of Denvers better known restaurants. I kid you not.

So glad I still had a bit left over after the demo. Just what the doctor ordered.

Poparuba Review

17 Feb IMG_7780

New product alert! This was is currently only available at Colorado Whole Foods but I have a feeling it wont be that way for long.

It is so rare to come across a product that has amazing stats (I’m talking nutritional and ingredient list) and also be finger licking amazing.

When I was demoing the Vanilla Almond Butter at Cherry Creek. Kerri was demoing her product, Poparuba, in the booth next to me. There was a constant flurry of people around her and when we exchanged our demo goodies I was sold before I even tried it.

Poparuba has a variety of different flavored Petite Fours. It’s a brand new product that Kerri launched in January of 2011.

Gluten-free, no added sugars, low glycemic, high fiber, and made from garbanzo bean flour. (which you know I’m obsessed with, multiple times over)

I tried the chocolate raspberry at the demo and immediately picked up two to take home and review on the blog!

Chocolate Raspberry and (what I believe was) Lemon Cake

Prepare for the ultimate of food porn.

I loved the little sparkles on them. Because again, you know I’m a sucker for a good presentation.

Can you believe I made it through all of these photographs without inhaling them? Yea, my willpower is admired by the gods today.

Chocolate Raspberry:

Lemon Cake

I split them with my roomie Addie. She was gushing lovely words just as much as I was. This is a brilliant product, head to toe.

A little size comparison for ya. Oh and also some shameless promotion for Justin’s. Because I inhale these pb cups on a regular basis.

And more glamor shots. What can I say? They love the lime light.

At the moment you can find these in the pastry section of prepared foods at Whole Foods in Colorado. Just ask for Poparuba and they should be able to help you out.

Kerri informed me tat they will be rolling out some new packaging soon, which should place them elsewhere in the store.

…and scene.

Question: On a scale of one to ten, how badly do you want to devour these?

P.S. Giveaway raw food is still up for grabs

Oh and I’ll be at the Tamarac Whole Foods on Sunday. Cherry Creek on Monday for those who havent gotten their Vanilla Almond Butter fix yet. ;)
