Tuna, Apple, Nooch Trio

15 Mar

Another 70 degree day here in Denver.

I enjoyed my lunch outside for a change.

Not sure how I came up with this combo, but I’m pretty sure it started with  me wanting apples in my salad.

Kale Arugula mix, chopped Fuji apple, Nooch, Apple Cider Vinegar, Onion, Tuna, Mustard, Balsamic.

I mixed some tuna up with mustard and S&P before adding it to the salad.

Tuna, Nooch, and Chopped Apple are a trio made in heaven and will definitely be used again, maybe on a toastie :D

I’m getting a bit sick so I need to hit the sack early. I just popped a nighttime akla seltzer cold medicine thing my roommate gave me and its starting to kick in!

Juicing

13 Oct

I started Juicing this past weekend.

No I haven’t started taking steroids, but  was making some green juice.

My housemate brought a super swifty juicer to the table when we moved in. I was very excited to test it out. I ran to the store and got a bunch of goodies.

  • Celery, spinach, apples, oranges, and ginger!

I couldn’t figure out what to catch it in so I just used a (much too large) tupperware container.

Then in the theme of using odd containers, opted to use a shot glass for glamour shots.

It is a very attractive shot glass though.

It looks very fluro, but it kinds of was!

The verdict: absolutely delicious, but honestly it was a pain in the butt to clean up soo many part for a few glasses of juice.
I think I’d rather pay the five bucks to buy a just as good fresh squeezed juice in the store. A blender may be easier to clean, but this juicer business is not for me. Glad I got to try one out before purchasing!
Now what to do with all of that pulp…..
Juicing: home-made, store bought, or juice bar bought?

Real Life Fruit Ninja

2 Mar IMG_4449

Chopping Veggies can be really enjoyable…

If you have the right knife.

I won this knife in a cooking competition (A la Masterchef) in Australia.

I have many nicknames for this knife. The cleaver. The machete…

You get the idea. Its big!

This baby cuts through ANYTHING, and easily too.

True story: My friend Dan wanted to see if I could throw an apple and have the knife slice through it.

Bam. Right down the middle. It was kind of awesome.

It was like real life Fruit Ninja!

Carrots and Celery…Prepare to meet your maker.

The chopped celery was for other fun things but the carrots were for this Cranberry, Apple, & Almond Quinoa.

I made it exactly as Angela did, except I added WAY more cinnamon

Because, as my Australian friends so lovingly pointed out: “My perception of Americans is that they love peanut butter and cinnamon on everything…”

My response: “Yup, pretty much sums it up”

Perfect when you are craving dessert at the end of the night but want something substantial to keep you from nibbling once your finished.

As I type this post I have gotten the “spinning wheel of death” over a dozen times. (Macbook users you know what I’m talkin’ about)

My computer is sick. The battery is nearing its end, the fan is on like it’s 100 degrees outside, and applications close out on me and freeze on a regular basis.

Oh, and exams are next week. Fantastic.

Not to worry though! I’m taking it to the doctor (aka Genius Bar) over the weekend.

Also consumed today: Random Veggie Stirfry

In the mix: chopped Eggplant, Onion, Spinach, Tomato and a ton of Old Bay

‘Cause everything’s better when topped with Old Bay

Twas scrumptious. Just what the doctor ordered

Sous Chef Duties: Love it or Loathe it?
