Everyday I’m Travelin’

22 Mar

And what a busy day its been. I flew to Baltimore for literally less than 24 hours for a few doctors appointment and a few loose ends to tie up, and then I was off to Florida for some family time.

I figured if I’m going to be at an airport, I might as well make a little vacation out of it. A bit of a graduation celebration if you will.

What do I have to show from my short time in ol Bmore?

A poorly iPhone-shot photo of my lunch from Zia’s cafe. One of my favorite vegetarian friendly and mostly raw cafe in my hometown.

Mutli-grain Bread. Grilled Eggplant, Zucchini, Goat Cheese, Marinated Tofu, Sprouts, Greens.

Satisfied my growling stomach and then some.

Well I’m exhausted from all of this travel and time-change.

Goodnight!

Coffee Spin Art

17 Aug

This week is a busy week of uni, balls (yep, the kind from Cinderella, minus the class and gown though ;) ) meetings, and potentially a casual job? Oh and the heaps of social activities with Queens and within the Uni.

So what’s new with me?

Oh, you know the usual. Just fueling the coffee addiction.

I swear to you, coffee is an art form here.

Mocha from Carlton Espresso

It reminds me of spin art. Tasty tasty spin art.

It’s an art form that I am going to appreciate everyday.

This coffee spot on Lygon was absolutely adorable. I loved the clean simple design and wooden tables. I also adore this city’s love for heat lamps! I was warm and toasty even after I finished my coffee. :)

The menu had my stomach grumbling, everything looked straight outta Italy delicious

Snackage ensued…

Piadina: Vegetables with goat cheese and spinach in a flatbread wrap

I concluded that Piadina must be Italian for Gourmet Quesadilla…

Yea… Piadina may sound a little more classy

Anna, Hannah, and ChanelThe bright sun made an appearance in the photo, giving Hannah a holy appearance.

The sun hasn’t made many appearances this week so we welcomed it with open wings arms.

Have a lovely (and potentially caffeinated) day!

Spin, Span, Spun

11 Aug

Hello my lovelies!

Look who’s finally getting on some sort of schedule. It’s about time, right?

Evidentially, still playing catch up though…

I went to brunch with some favorites from the corridor the other weekend. Just to change things up from regular dining hall breakfasts. We went to some place on Rawthorne with the name Two Door something?

Mushroom and Goat Cheese Omelet.Delectable. Love the quality of the shroomies

Lunch from whoknowswhen…

Tempeh Burger and Fries with Chili Sauce from Soul Food Cafe

The burger was just okay. The only thing that really saved it was the chili sauce, which was rather good. Other than that the burger was rather bland and a little off. Kinda like the lighting in the restaurant, bleh.

I’ve also tried something I would have never guessed I would do:

Spinning!

I’ve always been so scared to try spinning for a few reasons. Usually I don’t really enjoy classes, I’d much rather just go on my own. Also I’ve heard that if you are not in the proper form, you can seriously aggravate your back. I’ve had back problems in the past so this was the main reason keeping me from trying spinning.

Two of the girls on my corridor went one evening and I tagged along. Clare has spun (what is the past tense of spinning?) before but both me and Milly were first timers.

The result: it really wasn’t as brutal as I thought it would be. Next time I’m going to up the intensity too. Yep, that’s right I said next time. It was rather fun and now that I know what to expect I think I’m really going to enjoy. Just in time for my scale back of running!

What new or different thing have you tried recently that you enjoyed or were pleasantly surprised by?

There might be an amateur MasterChef cook-off for me in the coming days…. I’ll keep you posted ;)
