Hot Soggy Weetbix

25 Jan

For some reason American Weetbix is just not the same as Australia Weetbix. First, it’s kind of rounded. Also it’s not as dense.

But hey, I’m happy to have some version of it in the states. I’ll take what I can get. :)

This one aint pretty, but it warmed my soul after my cold walk back from spin class.

After one long night out in Melbourne and a quick visit to the late meals room, I learned what can be better than soggy Weetbix in milk. HOT soggy Weetbix in milk.

Start off the normal was and add some milk to the weetbix. I was just having a little snack but if you’re looking for something more filling up it to two weetbix at the least.

With an appearance by Almond Breeze’s new Almond Coconut milk

(For the record: I was unimpressed by this milk on its own. Definitely sticking with Whole Foods brand unsweetened almond milk!)

Put it in the microwave until it just begins to bubble.

Then add any jam, syrup, or sweetener you’d like if any.

Jam of choice was Crofter’s Asia Flavor

It’s Good To Be Back…

13 Mar

My head is actually in the same country my feet are!

The only thing I was thinking about in Denver was how long until I was back in Australia’s loving arms.

And it feels oh-so-good.

It was so surreal coming back to a place I was so familiar with. I had only been away for three months. So I was still familiar with everything/everyone even though it is a new school year and things have changed. It’s nice to finally be where I have wanted to be for so long!

Flight:

I lucked out on the flight again and had an empty seat next to me. Perfect for stretching out and not having to worry if your head falls on a strangers shoulder while your sleeping.

I watched the Black Swan and a few documentaries (Waiting for Superman — watch it!)

Then I pretty much slept the rest of the flight. Picture this: Me wrapped in a blanket, a furry coat (because the blanket was obvs not big enough) earplugs, eyemask, snuggled up like a bug in a rug. Cured my sleep deprivation from exam week.

Jetlag:

It only started to kick in at 8pm and I enlisted in the help of friends to come hang out and keep me awake. I didn’t sleep until after midnight, but then I didn’t wake up until noon! Guess, there’s no getting over sleeping an inordinate amount of time during jetlag!

Life:

No pictures yet, I have finally gotten all of my things from different friends houses (including converters!) So expect to see pictures of my room etc… and events soon! BIG St. Pattys Day Plans coming up. ;) Other then that its been Queen’s event after Queen’s event and I am eating it all up. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous and I’m slowly working on the Denver winter skin of mine.

Exercise:

Still trying to figure you out Garmin… but I think you’re super swifty.

Also trying to figure out how to unlock my iPhone so I can use it over here!

Note: I need to marry someone who is good with technology.

I went for an easy jog at Prinny Park (It’s Monday morning as I type this) before my first tute at noon.

And yes, I am borderline insane for going to Uni July-June: straight through.

I had meant to buy a new armband for my iPod nano, since no matter how many times I washed. It was just wayy to smelly.

Then I realized if I coughed up an extra 20$ I could just get a shuffle and never neer an armband again! Winning.

I refueled before class with some classic Weetbix and soymilk while rehashing last night’s debacles and reading the newspaper. Ah…I missed this place.

I have a massive job interview on Wednesday. I’m so nervous and so excited. This could be a big career defining moment for me that opens up A LOT of doors.

I still have the old photo booth job to fall back on, but if I get this opportunity, it would be the icing on the cake.

Almost feeling 100% back to normal! More updates to come…
